When you're in a hotel, that hotel is your ISP. They provide the connectivity, the routers and other equipment that connects you to the internet. As a result, they have the ability to monitor any and all traffic on the network. And you need to realize that it's their network that you're using - they own it, they control it and they have the right to monitor its usage. And, as you've seen, employees can abuse that power to go snooping.

Despite the fact that all people who have commented before me have said a thing, I want to add few words here too. First of all I want to thank you so much, because I had some problems with wireless network at home and other places where I was on my holidays. But now everything works fine. Many hotel rooms today are wired with broadband Internet. Does that mean wireless junkies have to find a nearby Starbuck's to get their fix?

Nowadays, hotel do offer wireless connection. So you don't need to create you own network like airport express. It's part of there service. They have lunch it for better service to the public.

Most of the hotels now have internet connection. So no need of worrying. Otherwise this scheme is good. If needed,it is of great use.

I have a new computer (Vista) set up on a wireless network (Netgear router) and it is working perfectly. Am trying to set up my second computer (XP and a wireless adapter) but it isn't recognizing any available wireless network. Should I contact my ISP or is there an understandable sequence of steps I should take to establish my wireless network on the second computer?

is it possible to extend a hotel's wireless network with this device? Many of the hotels now-a-days don't have a wired connection in the room.
